There is jubilation in the camp of the Governor Godwin Obaseki led Peoples Democratic Party .
And this is not unconnected to the fact that Obaseki has recorded more votes from the results of the 13 Local Governments declared so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Although 17 political parties have fielded candidates for the election, it is a two-way race between All Progressives Congress and PDP.
Incumbent Governor Obaseki of PDP ran against APC standard-bearer Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Obaseki was elected on APC’s platform in 2016 but defected to the PDP after being denied the ticket owing to intra-party squabbles.
PDP scored 240,935 while APC had 154, 192 votes from the declared results in the 13 LGAs.
Obaseki is leading Ize-Iyamu by a wide margin of over 80,000 votes.
The election held in 18 Local Government Areas, 192 Wards, and 2,627 polling unit
