The Project Director Access to Justice (A2J) Mr Deji Ajare in company of the Chairman Anambra Civil Society Network, Prince Chris Azor paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command CP John B.Abang,fdc at the State Command Headquarters Awka.
The group also presented Anti-Torture posters (30 framed and 150 unframed) to the CP for distribution to various Units and Divisions in the State Command.
Responding, the CP thanked them for the visit and for including Anambra State Command as one of the beneficiary of their training programme, especially in the Areas of Human Rights and respect for the rule of law. The CP also presented a plaque in appreciation to the Project Director for the great work he has been doing towards improving the justice system in the state. He urged A2J to start some citizen oriented advocacy efforts towards reduction of cases of rape and defilement.
Access to Justice (A2J), with support from the European Union and British Council’s Rule of Law & Anti Corruption (RoLAC) Programme, organised a training for 40 senior police officers of the Anambra State Command on Monday 19th October, 2020.
The aim of the training is to create awareness on the Anti-Torture Act, 2017 and other legislations prohibiting torture. It was attended by officers from the rank of ASP and above
