IGP orders arrest of Sunday Igboho

The ‘quit notice’ issued by Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, to Fulanis in Igangan, Ibarapa East local government over alleged kidnapping and banditry has continued to elicit mixed reactions among Nigerians.

On Friday, Igboho stormed the Fulani settlements in the town to eject the Seriki Fulani, Salihu Abdukadir, and some other herdsmen accused of fuelling security problems in the area at the expiration of his ‘quit notice’.

Igboho’s visit was in defiance of Governor Seyi Makinde who had warned him that he (Igboho) has no right whatsoever to order any Nigerian out of the state.
Hundreds of youths received Igboho with singing and dancing before storming Igangan Town Hall where he addressed them.

The Nation learnt the recent murder of a doctor, Fatai Aborode, an Ibarapa son who was killed on his way from his over 300 acres of land that provides employment to scores of Ibarapa youths, angered Igboho.

In the now-viral video, Sunday Igboho however challenged Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde to arrest him if he can over the eviction order he issued.

Meanwhile, Makinde on Friday said his government would not allow anyone hiding under the guise of ethnic interest to perpetrate a crisis in the state.
Igboho’s action has sparked up mixed reactions from Nigerians, especially on social media.

A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode on twitter said,:“New leaders are rising up in the SW. They are strong, fearless, radical & young. Names like Sunday Igboho, Olayomi Koiki and others come to mind. The SW has finally got a new set of champions & heroes. They believe in Oduduwa Republic. None can stand against them. I commend them.”

Another commentator, Fedrick Nwabufo, said: “We need peace. Asking other Nigerians to leave your state will only incite chaos. Reprisal quit orders. And those of you celebrating this tragedy, please note it could be your own ethnic group tomorrow. No one wins in this crisis.”
