In lieu of the Local Government Area(s) / Local Council Development Area(s) Elections, scheduled to hold today, Saturday, 24th July, 2021, across the Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command has deployed both human and material resources to monitor, secure and protect lives and property across the state.
The Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Douglas Okoro has perfected all necessary and required intelligence and operational strategies needed for the peaceful conduct of the elections in the state, yesterday, Friday, 23rd July, 2021, as he met with his Management team, special (Duty and Electoral matters unit), Tactical unit commanders, and other Field Commanders at the State Head Quarters of the Command, in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
In addition, the Commandant has also directed the Area Commanders and Divisional Officers across the state to ensure the appropriate and adequate deployment of their men before, during and after the election, to ensure that the security of the state remains in top gear. The personnel were also mandated to work hand in hand with the Police, security agencies and other relevant stakeholders involved in the election across the state.
The personnel of the Corps deployed for this election have also been directed to cover every nooks and crannies of the state, with focal objectives and respect for the Corps’ standard operational guidelines and procedures as well as the extant electoral laws of the land. They are to maintain law and order, protect electoral officials, materials, facilities, voters, polling units, wards, independent observers as well as other stakeholders involved in the electoral processes.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command has also put up appropriate and adequate measures to counter and neutralize any possible threats against the peaceful conduct of the election that may emanate from the nefarious activities of hooligans, hoodlums, hijackers, vandals and other forms of criminals in the state. However, all the personnel have been charged to respect the fundamental human rights of all citizens in the state as they carry out their duties without fear or favour of any sort.
Finally, the Commandant, Commandant Eweka Douglas Okoro avowed his unflinching commitment, to ensure the safety and security of lives and property in the state. He also assured the people, voters and all electoral stakeholders in the state of maximum security before, during and after the election.
