Olembe stadium gulps N1.4b

Should Nigeria reach the finale of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Super Eagles would play in the beautiful Olembe stadium which reportedly cost  $290,000,000 million USD (about N119,407,500,000 billion naira).

The draws of the delayed 2021 AFCON   holds today in Yaounde  and the Olembe stadium has been the centre of attraction  since it will  host  both the  tournament’s opening  match on January 9 and  Final Match on February 6.
Already, Cameroon  has successfully hosted the African Nations Championship (CHAN), a competition for footballers playing in their homelands, early this year, and is now ready to host the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Originally chosen as 2019 hosts, Cameroon, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP), fell behind with preparations and Egypt had to step in at the last minute and stage the event. Given a second chance, Cameroon has twice had to change the dates for the 2021 version that will now be held a year later. Initial plans for the Olembe Stadium included a swimming pool, a gymnasium and a tennis court, but only the stadium seems set to be completed.
