Vice President Yemi Osinbajo condemned the attack on the Kaduna-Abuja train which occurred last Monday, just as he extended condolence to the families of passengers that lost their lives.
Professor Osinbajo who described the act as evil, was received by Governor Nasir El-Rufai and senior government officials on arrival to Kaduna.
The Vice President also visited victims of the attack at both 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital and St Gerald’s Catholic Hospital.
Also, Governor of Kebbi State and chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, led a delegation to condole with the government and people of Kaduna state over the train attack.
The delegation included Governor Bagudu’s predecessors, Senator Adamu Aliero and Alhaji Saidu Usman Nasamu Dakingari , as well as former governor of Zamfara state, Senator Ahmed Sani, Yariman Bakura.
Governor Bagudu who was received by the Deputy Governor of Kaduna state, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, on behalf of Governor Nasir El-Rufai, expressed sadness over the security situation.
Dr Balarabe expressed gratitude to the delegation for sharing in the grief of the government and people of Kaduna state saying “the visit is a morale booster for us”
Similarly, Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi met Governor El-Rufai at Sir Kashim House, to commiserate with the government and people of Kaduna state, before proceeding to the hospitals to see victims of the train attack.
