Starting from the bottom of the ladder following his injury in September 2022, Victor Osimhen has climbed to the third spot on the European Golden Boot ranking behind Manchester City Herling Haaland and Bodo Glimt’s Amahl Pellegrino.
At 17 goals from 19 matches in the Serie A, the Super Eagles striker continues to get close to the unattainable Haaland in the Golden Boot ranking which includes the best European strikers.
For now, the Napoli striker is third with 34 points, double the number of goals (the coefficient is 2), next to Tottenham’s Harry Kane who has the same goals and the same score as the Nigerian.
Osimhen started from the bottom but has overtaken everyone in recent months and is now 3.5 points behind Bodo Glimt’s Pellegrino and seven goals away from Manchester City’s Norwegian.
Meanwhile, former Fiorentina coach Coach Cesare Prandelli has tipped Osimhen and his teammates as the best team in Europe in all departments of the game.
Prandelli told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “I look at Napoli and I don’t say it because they are dominating the league. They are the best team both in Italy and in Europe. In the summer it was said that Spalletti was finished and that De Laurentiis and Giuntoli had downsized the project. Beyond the individuals, Napoli is a team in everything. They have harmony, they play with joy: they alternate possession and counterattacks. And in the defensive phase, they are compact.”
